There’s something about a master bathroom that sets the tone for your entire home.
It’s the first place you walk into in the morning. The last place you unwind at night. And I didn’t want ours to feel trendy or overly designed. I wanted it to feel calm. Grounded. Timeless.
This room was never about “what’s in style.”
It was about how it feels.
And every material choice played a role in that.
The Foundation: Venice Southern Limestone
The star of this room is our Venice Southern Limestone in the master shower.
Natural stone in a shower makes people nervous — and I completely understand why. My biggest advice if you’re considering limestone is simple:
- Seal it properly.
- Keep it out of constant direct water contact.
When we designed the shower, we were intentional about placement so the main water stream never hits the stone directly. It was professionally sealed from the start.
Now — one year later — it still looks beautiful. No dark spotting. No discoloration. Just the same soft, warm, old-world character we fell in love with.
This stone is what gives the entire room that European, layered feel.
The Tile: Edward Martin Selections
To complement the limestone, I sourced our additional tile from Edward Martin.
Their tiles have this subtle texture and tonal variation that doesn’t feel flat or manufactured. I wanted something that felt collected — not overly perfect.
The contrast between the natural limestone and the tile adds dimension without competing for attention. It keeps the space warm while still feeling clean and elevated.
The Bathtub: Sculptural but Soft
The bathtub needed to feel sculptural — but not modern in a cold way.
We chose a freestanding fluted tub because of its clean silhouette and soft curves. It anchors the room without overpowering it.
It adds to all of the visual moments in the space.
The Fixtures: Delta (Timeless Hardware Matters)
Fixtures are like jewelry for a bathroom.
We used Cassidy collection from Delta throughout the space, and I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to choose hardware that feels substantial and timeless.
The finish adds warmth, depth, and just enough contrast against the stone and tile. It’s subtle, but it elevates everything.
The Lighting: The Glow Factor
Lighting can completely transform how a bathroom feels — and this piece truly changed the entire mood of the space.
We used the Four Tiered Starsky Chandelier from Pooky, and it’s one of my favorite design decisions in this room.
The tiered silhouette adds height and architectural interest without feeling heavy. It draws your eye upward and gives the bathroom that layered, collected look instead of something flat or overly modern. And when it’s on? The glow is soft, warm, and beautifully diffused.
At night especially, it enhances the warmth in the Venice Southern Limestone and makes the entire space feel calm, inviting, and elevated.
Statement lighting in a bathroom might feel unexpected — but that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s the piece that pulls everything together.
The Paint Color: The Quiet Hero
The paint color in this room is Mocha Accent by Behr, and it’s truly the quiet depth that holds everything together.
I didn’t want bright white walls competing with the limestone and tile. I wanted warmth. Something grounded. Something that would make the stone feel even softer.
Mocha Accent has this rich, earthy undertone that adds dimension without feeling dark or heavy. It enhances the warmth in the Venice Southern Limestone, complements the Edward Martin tile beautifully, and makes the brass fixtures and chandelier glow in the evening light.
Paint is often the most overlooked decision in a renovation — but it’s what makes everything feel cohesive. This shade gives the bathroom that layered, old-world calm we were after.
