Why I Chose Oak Valley Designs
Orla treads in Aloe
After doing a lot of research, I decided to try Oak Valley Designs at our rental cottage. One of the biggest reasons? The cost compared to having a traditional stair runner installed.
With Oak Valley, you’re purchasing the individual treads you need rather than paying for a custom runner, padding, and professional installation. The Style & Color We Chose
We went with the Orla stair treads in Aloe, and I absolutely love them. The soft, muted green feels timeless and works beautifully with the cottage.
I highly recommend ordering a box of samples before deciding. Oak Valley has so many great colors, patterns, and textures, and seeing them online versus actually laying them on your stairs can be completely different. Having the samples in the space made it so much easier to see how each option worked with our wood tones, paint colors, and lighting.
Once we landed on Aloe, I knew it was the one!
Easy Installation
Another huge selling point was how simple these are to install. The padding and adhesive backing are already built in, so there’s no professional installer, nails, or permanent carpet runner needed.
Simply measure, center your tread, remove the backing, and press it into place. You get that beautiful, finished look while still allowing the wood to show on either side.
And if you have any questions along the way, call them! Their customer service team is excellent. Whether you’re unsure about measuring, sizing, placement, or installation, you can actually get someone on the phone who will walk you through the process hand in hand. Having that level of support made an already simple DIY feel even easier.
Why They’re Coming to Our Home Next
The cottage was the perfect place to put them to the test. With guests, families, and luggage constantly going up and down the stairs, I needed something that could actually hold up to everyday life.
They’ve been the perfect combination of pretty and practical—which you know is always my goal.
